German pelvic hood with visor, ca. 1370, suitable for display

This pelvic hood (also known as a bascinet helmet) is a
reconstruction based on a find from around 1370. The original can be found in the Valeria
Museum, Sion (Switzerland). The helmet has a hinged
and removable visor and is therefore also known as a 'hinged bascinet visor'.
The pelvic helmet developed from the Hirnhaube in the early 14th century.

The helmet is forged by hand from 2 mm thick sheet steel, riveted and
welded and, thanks to its robustness, provides great protection during
exhibition combat.

The helmet has a comfortable, padded fabric inlay.
The brass rivets attached to the sides are used to attach a chain strap
for the chest and shoulders.
