The original of this sword once belonged to Sir William Marshal, first Earl of Pembroke, one of England's most outstanding knights. He served the British crown loyally and devotedly under Henry II, Richard the Lionheart and John Ohneland. The sword is now in a British museum.
Our reconstruction is based on the original in great detail.
It is made entirely by hand. The steel crossguard and pommel impress with their simple elegance and functionality. The spring steel blade is continuous up to the pommel, where it is hand-riveted. The handle is wrapped in leather. The blade has a pronounced fuller, which gives the sword great elasticity and lightness at the same time. It is oil-hardened to approx. 48-50 HRC. The blade edge is not sharpened.
The sword comes with a very beautiful wooden leather scabbard with brass rings for fastening to the sword belt.
This is the regular version of this high medieval sword.
The same sword is also available in a version suitable for show combat, with a blunt blade and rounded tip: item no. 0116696906.
