The term kidney dagger refers to a dagger with a straight, double-edged blade that tapers from the hilt to the point. The wooden handle has a crossguard with two spherical or egg-shaped protrusions on the sides. Due to its similar shape, this type of dagger was given the name kidney dagger or ballock dagger. The original name in England was therefore ballock dagger or bollock dagger
.
