Renaissance-style rapier suitable for show fighting with a blade made of high-quality carbon steel. This rapier has its origins in early 17th century Europe, where rapier fencing was an essential part of male training and was often used to settle disputes between noblemen.
The tapered blade offers exceptional balance compared to conventional cylindrical rapier blades. This makes the sword much faster.
A so-called main gauche, a fencing dagger or left-handed companion dagger, was often used together with the rapier. On the one hand, the daggers enabled a better defense against attacking rapier blades, but at the same time also offered the opportunity for a quick counterattack. The fencing schools that proliferated in Europe taught fencing with two corresponding weapons. The style and design of the left hand was often adapted to the rapier and adopted its characteristics to increase its effectiveness.
