A replica of an early medieval narrow sax suitable for display in battle.
This form of sax came into fashion among the Franks, Saxons and Scandinavians in the middle of the 6th century.
It was mainly used as a secondary weapon and for fighting in the shield wall.
It was mainly used as a secondary weapon and for fighting in the shield wall.
As it was too narrow in the shield wall to swing out with a long sword,
the short and maneuverable sax was the ideal weapon.
This sax is a reconstruction suitable for show fighting with a
blunt blade and rounded tip.
The wooden grip scales are riveted to the tang.
A brown suede scabbard with two
belt straps is included.
