The Viking Age staff necklace is equipped with a small S-hook and a larger omega hook. In this way, the chain can be used as a brooch chain to hold two pendants, for example a pair of tweezers and an awl or any other functional pendant. The historical model for this staff necklace was found in Finland, and similar necklaces were found in the Swedish Viking city of Birka.
The Viking necklace measures 24 cm including the hooks and is therefore long enough to be attached to a brooch and to wear the pendants attached to it at around waist height, which was typical for women's clothing in the Viking Age
