This rectangular scarf is made from plain cotton fabric. The edges are finished with a rolled hem. It can be tied as a pennantor headscarf for medieval portrayals, but is also versatile in modern everyday life, e.g. as a stylish hairband, a turban, a shawl or an elegant scarf wrapped around the neck.
In the Middle Ages, it was customary for married women to wear head coverings (this is where the phrase " going under the hood" comes from). Medieval options for covering the head included veils, hoods, hoods, hoods, hoods, raises, scarfs or pennants.
There were various techniques for putting on the pennant. It was wrapped around the forehead, chin and back of the head and always covered the hair. Historical depictions of a pennant can be found, for example, in the World Chronicle - The Knitter - Charlemagne, an illuminated parchment manuscript written around 1300 by Rudolf von Ems, or in the Maciejowski Bible (also known as the Crusader's Bible), a picture Bible from the 13th century.
