Dress Freydis blue

The floor-length dress has a loose cut and is made from sturdy cotton fabric (canvas) and comes with a fabric belt. Color-contrasting details with handmade witch embroidery make this dress something special.
The slit neckline can be worn open or fastened with a brooch. The front and back are made from rectangular panels of fabric, with gores inserted in the middle and at the sides to give the hem enough width. A gusset (rectangular piece of fabric) is inserted under the arm. The firm canvas fabric (canvas) makes the dress robust and heavy and is therefore suitable for spring and fall.

The cut of the dress is based on archaeological finds dating back to the 9th and 10th centuries. Typical for this period are long dresses with cuts that were mainly composed of rectangles and triangles in order to use as little fabric as possible.
Fragments of the cut have been found in Skjoldehamn, Birka and Haithabu. The dress is therefore an authentic garment for all Vikings.
