Viking shield Hugin & Munin 80 cm

The large, beautiful Viking shield is made of approx. 13 mm thick plywood and elaborately decorated with two ravens. The pair of birds is a depiction of Odin's messengers Hugen & Munin, which are a recurring motif in Viking art.

In Norse mythology, the ravens fly over Asgard and Midgard and return in the evening to Odin, the father of the gods, to tell him everything they have seen and heard.

In the middle of the shield is a generously proportioned steel boss, which is firmly fixed in position with four rivets and offers enough space even for strong Viking hands. The edge of the shield is covered with rawhide, and the back of the shield is fitted with three riveted wooden reinforcement strips

Riveted wooden reinforcement strips. The middle strip also serves as a fist grip and is wrapped in leather at the level of the shield hole for a comfortable hold.

Although this wooden shield is a little too thin for full contact, it remains a great accessory for reenactment, LARP, stage or TV/movie and will make your transformation into a proud Nordic warrior just perfect.

It is also a beautiful collector's item or decorative object for all lovers of the Viking Age.
