The Normans were direct descendants of the Vikings, who settled in northern France in the 10th century. However, they were in no way inferior to their ancestors in terms of fighting spirit, courage and martial skill. It is not surprising that the Norman swords bear the greatest resemblance to the swords of the Vikings of all high medieval blades.
This reconstruction of a Norman one-handed sword by Ulfberth®, which is suitable for show combat, is entirely in the tradition of this extremely dynamic sword type.
Typologically, the sword can clearly be classified as Oakshott Type X. The crossguard is of type no. 6 and the paranus pommel, so typical of Norman swords, is of type A.
The forged blade of spring steel EN45 is oil-hardened and tempered to approx. 48-50 HRC. It is forged through to the pommel and riveted to the end of the handle. The wooden handle is wrapped in leather. The crossguard is forged from steel. The blade has a pronounced fuller, which gives the sword great elasticity and lightness at the same time. The tip of the blade and the cutting edges are blunt and rounded. The one-handed sword is made exclusively by hand.
The sword is supplied without a scabbard.

Bien reçu ma commande : Comme d'habitude, Ritterladen est rapide.
J'avais commandé cette épée après l'avoir essayée d'un ami qui l'avait prise ici. J'étais heureux de la maniabilité avec un poids de 950g. Cependant, je doute que ça soit la même (c'était il y a un an) exactement. Le poids n'est plus de 950g comme annoncé mais de 1.1kg. Assez déçu de ce coté là.
- Nouvelle remarque avec pas mal de combat en actif, la lame est émoussé sur 2mm à la base de la lame et à la pointe, cela veut dire que sur le reste de la lame (partie centrale) la lame est émoussé sur 1mm, ce qui est problématique en certaine conséquence, la lame est donc fortement endommagé
- Épée de très bonne facture , utilisé en combat contre une épée avec un bord de 2mm, cela laisse des marques conséquente sur la lame , mais donne un aspect réel , je la recommande au débutant comme aux expérimenté
- Pas encore utilisé réellement en combat mais un maitre d'arme m’a dit que c'était une épée de bonne facture et bien équilibrée. J'en suis satisfait, elle est très jolie et confortable a maniée pour le moment (à voir en combat)
- Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit dem Schwert, es liegt gut in der Hand und läßt sich schön führen. Optisch sehr gut verarbeitet, der Preis ist gerecht.

Erst einmal den besten dank für den Guten Service und den schnellen Versand. Dienstag Abend bestellt und Donnerstag pünktlich zum Fechtunterricht da !
Nun zum Schwert preislich ein Knaller. An der Verarbeitung gibt es nichts zu bemängeln. Das Schwert ist trotz einer leichten Kopflastigkeit gut zu führen und die Schartenbildung hält sich in grenzen. Alles in allem für den Preis und für jemanden der mit dem Schwertkampf beginnen möchte und fürs Training ein echter Schnapp!
