Celtic cuisine

Enthusiasm for Celtic culture is more present today than ever before. On the one hand, there is the debate about archaeological discoveries and the still living languages of Celtic origin: Gaelic, Irish and Welsh. On the other hand, there is enthusiasm for stories about King Arthur and Guinevere or pop-cultural references to Celticism in Asterix and Obelix. Whether scientific or fictional, Celticism is fascinating.

Ingeborg Scholz's Celtic cookbook brings this fascination to life in culinary terms! The author combines extensive information on the current state of research with traditional recipes from antiquity to the present day. She combines imagination and science, and presents dishes that canalso be cooked in modern kitchensfor everyday life and feasts - throughout all seasons. In this way, she sheds light on the culinary history of early Europe from antiquity through the Iron Age to the Middle Ages - a period of over 2,500 years in total, during which there were constant innovations in the kettle and on the baking stone. New ingredients migrated, old ones died out - and inspired new culinary delights.

Celtic delights for the senses

The Celtic cookbook comes in a splendid guise. It is published as an elegant hardcover in a square format and contains professional photographs for the majority of the recipes. All 136 pages are in full color and thematically appropriate, so that the spark of the Celtic attitude to life jumps over as soon as you turn the pages.

All recipes can be cooked in a modern kitchen with modern ingredientsand are equally suitable for beginners and advanced cooks. So the historical art of cooking does not stop at the modern fitted kitchen!

The Celtic Cookbook is ideal for anyone who is interested in early European history and paganism, whether for reenactment or LARP - or who simply appreciates a little variety on the plate at the kitchen table at home.
