This helmet model is characterized by a high helmet bell and has a long neck guard. The forehead is firmly riveted and offers the protection of a second layer of steel for the wearer. The peak is tapered and has a central ridge.
The visor can be opened upwards, allowing the wearer to breathe freely and see better.
The helmet is made with a foam lining (covered with cotton) and a chin strap.
The Schaller is one of the most common helmet types of the late Middle Ages and was often seen in combination with Gothic armour in Europe. Later, it was still in use by mercenaries and thieves, who made use of the worn-out helmet shape.
Material: 1.2mm steel
