This helmet shape emerged in the 13th century and was intended to be worn under a large helmet in combination with a chain hood.
It briefly went out of fashion in the 14th century, but was rediscovered in the 16th century and worn under large felt and leather hats (Landsknechte).
This simple model of a Hirnhaube has a large face opening and a central comb. The nape is slightly longer to protect the back of the neck.
Two rows of full rivets are used on the back for decoration.
The helmet has a foam inlay and a leather chin strap.
