Chains can be found in all kinds of forms in grave finds from the Viking Age, especially in eastern Sweden, Gotland and the Baltic region, and were often used to attach so-called functional pendants such as needle boxes, beard combs or hygiene utensils. This Viking necklace was made after the discovery of a stick necklace from the Viking Age, the bronze beard comb is also a detailed replica.
The Viking Age brooch necklace is fitted with a small and S-shaped hook at one end, which is hooked into a brooch attached to the chest.
The complete chain measures 27 cm including the hook and beard comb and is therefore long enough for the beard comb pendant to be at around waist height.
The bronze beard comb is crafted true to detail after a Viking Age find in the so-called Ringerike style, which is one of two identical beard comb pendants found in England dating back to the 11th century.
