The use of star clocks is documented as early as the 13th century. In the Middle Ages, they were used on crusades to tell the time at night. The star clock can be worn as a pendant; the constellations are marked on the back (see illustration)
Application:

1. Set the date (month) by turning the time disk
2. Hold the star clock (on the chain eyelet) so that you can see the North Star through the central opening. The sundial should be at right angles to your line of vision
3. Turn the long hand so that the straight edge points to Dubhe and Merak (the two superimposed stars on the axis of the Big Dipper)
4. Read the local time, which a sundial displays during the day, from the straight edge of the long hand.

Dimensions: approx. 27 mm x 40 mm
Material: Sterling silver inside; brass outside

A black strap and instructions for use are included.
