Ring with Viking compass

Long before the compass was invented, the Vikings sailed their ships as far as Iceland, Greenland and Russia. They used the so-called "sunstones", transparent stones made of calcite, as navigation aids. As an amulet, the "Viking compass" consists of the Icelandic symbol "Vegvisir" in the middle and the runic alphabet around it. The magical rods of the Vegvisir combined with the runes are intended to guarantee the wearer a safe journey even under difficult conditions.
