The high-quality Viking necklace is made true to detail after a Viking Age find and features a replica of a needle box based on models from Birka and Gotland.
The remarkable needle box has a decorative plate in the Jelling style and was made true to detail based on a find from the Viking Age, which is dated to the early to mid 10th century.
Needle boxes can be found in many different forms in grave finds from the Viking Age, especially in eastern Sweden and Gotland as well as in the Baltic region. Chains were often used to attach the needle box to a brooch on a woman's garment. This Viking necklace is therefore fitted with a small S-hook at one end, which can be hooked into a brooch attached to the chest.
Total length of chain and needle box: 28 cm
