This amulet is an image of a rune stone in the Urnes style, which was probably erected by Swedish Vikings in Uppland around 1100 AD. Rune stones were created as memorial stones or to convey messages and heroic deeds. They offered an insight into the self-image, values and achievements of important personalities.
