Thor's Hammer
The most famous symbol of Nordic mythology - Mjölnir - the hammer of Thor. Mjölnir was forged from the stone of the Urals by the two dwarfs Sindri and Brokk and when it is thrown, it never misses its target and returns to the hand of the thrower. Also, It may only be borne by Thor. It is said that, in the form of a fly, Loki stabbed the dwarf Brokk, who stoked the fire in the forge, so that the hammer's shank became too short.
Today, the hammer is worn as a amulet, as a sign of strength, courage and fertility. Or simply as an extraordinary piece of jewellery.

Since pre-history and early history, the axe has had various functions: it is used for working wood and stone, for killing and slaughtering (sacrificial animals), as an executioner's weapon and as a weapon of war. The magic cult function of the axe and its symbolic value as a sign of power can be seen from prehistory and early history all the way to to modern times. The axe as an attribute of a god who unleashes chaos and rules over the forces of nature. In this context, the axe is seen as a symbol of lightning flung from the heavens.
Amulets in axe form have been found as far back as the early Middle Ages. They are a powerful symbol of defence against all evil and secure the health of the bearer and their whole family . The Viking Age saw a renaissance of the cult of the axe whereby the amulets resembled common types of axe in their shape .
