Handmade replica of a sewing needle made of bone, based on a historical find from the Viking Age.

Bone needles like this one were already in use in the Stone Age. They were common among Celts and Romans as well as Germanic tribes and Vikings and were used until the Middle Ages. They are particularly suitable for sewing coarser fabrics.

Bone needles were valuable and precious. They were therefore carefully stored, e.g. in needle boxes - you can also get a needle box like this from us.

Incidentally, sewing needles made of bone were a cheaper alternative to expensive bronze or iron needles and are therefore often found in archaeological excavations.

Dimensions:

small needle: approx. 6 x 0.5 cm
large needle: approx. 8 x 0.5 cm

ATTENTION: only one needle is sold at a time! The product image is for size comparison only!
