Cow shoes used to be wide, flat and had slits on the front so that the colorful socks could be seen. They replaced the so-called beak shoes.

Cow shoes were fashionable from the end of the 15th to the end of the 16th century and were worn by both men and women in Europe. Examples of this type can be found, for example, in the Museum Weißenfels in Neu-Augustusburg Castle and the Bavarian National Museum in Munich.

Our black and red cowhide shoes / Renaissance shoes are made of cowhide, which makes them comfortable to wear.

The black-colored leather is padded to create a slight 3D effect. It has also been used for the edging of the large opening, making the edges well rounded. The black and red cow shoes have a leather sole with a rubber sole, which ensures a longer lifespan.

Unlike pure leather soles, the rubber soles also wear through less quickly. This makes the cow shoes a beautiful eye-catcher at the next medieval market, LARP or Renaissance re-enactment. The brass buckle and the accompanying strap allow the shoe to be adjusted to fit your own foot and provide a good hold.
