In the Middle Ages, people did not have the pockets built into their clothing that we carry many of our utensils in today. Keys, tobacco, handkerchiefs etc. had to be kept in pouches, which were usually worn on the belt with straps.
Here we have a spacious pouch made of lined cotton fabric, which is closed with a drawstring. The width is approx. 21 cm, the height approx. 23 cm. For the upper classes, these pouches were available with ornamentation and rich embroidery.
