Birka cap with herringbone pattern brown M

This Nordic cap is made from robust cotton fabric in a herringbone pattern.
The waistband has a contrasting color and is made of canvas fabric (sailcloth). The lining is made of lightweight cotton fabric.

In the Middle Ages, it was common for both sexes to wear headgear. However, caps of this type were only worn by men.
There were plain versions or more elegant ones with fur trim.

The cap goes with a variety of garments, but looks particularly good on northerners. There is evidence of the cut from both Haithabu and Birka.
