Viking tunic with embroidery blue M

The Viking tunic is made of sturdycanvas and decorated with an embroidered border. The border depicts a knot pattern (also known as the Celtic knot) and is based on the border on the Lärbro (Gotland) effigy stone. The tunic is cut wide and has a flared lap. It should therefore be worn with a belt. The neckline is wide and gussets (rectangular pieces of fabric) are inserted under the arms. The elaborate design and the contrasting colour details make it clear that this is an outer garment.

The appearance and cut of this tunic correspond to the garments of the Early and High Middle Ages in Northern Europe. Typical for the cut of this period are longer cut outer garments with a straight cut torso and flared lap (skirt). Gussets (rectangular pieces of fabric) were used under the arms to increase wearing comfort. Archaeological finds with a similar cut were made in Viborg and Haithabu, for example.

The tunic is perfect for all Norsemen. For an authentic look, we recommend combining it with Viking trousers, calf wraps and a leather belt.
