Long-sleeved cotehardie red L

This long medieval dress made of sturdy cotton fabric has a fitted cut. Fabric gussets are inserted in the skirt section to create a generous hemline. The center front is laced with a strong cotton ribbon, allowing the women's dress to be individually adjusted to fit the body.

Thanks to Medieval Aglet laces at both ends, the ribbon can be easily pulled through the embroidered eyelets. To keep the dress as authentic as possible, lacing was deliberately used here, even though it is much more time-consuming to put on than a zipper.

The cut of the dress is based on medieval depictions from the 13th to 15th centuries. While women's garments before this time tended to be loose-fitting and hid the shape of the body, clothing now became more body-hugging.

Typical of a cotehardie are the lacings or buttons at the center front. These first appeared at this time and finally made a tight fit possible. The ever-widening neckline was also characteristic of these dresses and very popular with ladies in the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance.

The cotehardie was usually combined with an underdress, a veil and a narrow belt.
