Long-sleeved cotehardie brown L

This long medieval dress has a tight cut and is made of sturdy cotton fabric (canvas). The skirt section features mitres (fabric gussets) that create a generous hemline. The center front is laced with a sturdy cotton ribbon and can therefore be individually adjusted to fit the body. The ends of the ribbon are finished with a Medieval Aglet so that the ribbon can be easily pulled through the embroidered eyelets.

The cut of the dress is based on medieval depictions from the 13th to 15th centuries. Before this time, women's garments were cut rather loose and hid the shape of the body, but now clothing became more body-hugging. Typical of a cotehardie is the lacing or buttons at the center front. Lacing and buttons first appeared at this time and finally made a close fit possible. The ever-widening neckline was also characteristic of these medieval dresses and very popular with women. The cotehardie was combined with an underdress, a veil and a narrow belt. A short-sleeved cotehardie was also worn with cuffed sleeves, which were attached to the sleeve hem with a pin.
