Agatha dress blue M

The Agatha dress has a loose cut and is made from sturdy cotton fabric. The dress has drawstrings at the sides so that it can be individually adjusted. The sleeves and hem are contrasting in color, creating the impression of an underdress. The neckline and sleeve hems are decorated with embroidery.

The look and cut of this dress are based on the fashion of the 12th century. This type of dress, known as the bliaut, emerged at this time. The bliaut was characterized in particular by lacing at the sides, a flared skirt and trumpet sleeves. It was also often decorated. The length of the dress varied from floor-length to calf-length. Depictions of a bliaut from this period can be found, for example, in the Hortus Deliciarum or in the manuscript Terence Comedies, illustrated in 1150.
